Save on Kate {Morning After Wedding!}

Save on Kate - After Wedding
Only three more daaaaays until I am out of here! Done with school! Although I don’t OFFICIALLY graduate until Friday, I won’t be walking at graduation sooo I consider Tuesday to be my last day since I will be packing up and shipping out of Purchase, NY! I am so happy to be getting home for a couple weeks.. I get to do my sisters make up for prom and go with her to get her hair done (yay! – I’ll post pics!) I also can’t wait to see some of my friends I haven’t seen in what seems like forever, although it truly hasn’t been. Then.. I’m so so so excited (can you tell?) to move in with one of my BEST friends in Manhattan! It’s all time serious though; I really need to find a job ASAP. Wish me luck!
But on to Kate, whose life is, I’m sure, much more exciting than mine! Did ya’ll see how GORGEOUS she looked the other night at the Olympic gala (in the stunning Jenny Packham gown?) Here’s a link to WhatKateWore to learn all the details about that dress! Here’s another one of her outfits from over a year ago… You may remember it as what she wore the day after her wedding when her and William left Buckingham Palace. I like it because (of course) it goes with her sapphire rock but it’s also a casual in a sense you can wear it during the day (pop off the blazer if needed!), but still dressed up and put together. Something Kate does well!

Save on Kate! {Davina Dress}

Save on Kate - Davina DressHappy one year anniversary of William and Kate’s Wedding!! How are youuuu celebrating?! Maybe I’ll speak in a British accent for the rest of the day – although I cannot promise it will be any good and my roommates will probably end up hating me. I was going to do a post on her goooorgeous lace wedding dress as well as Pippa’s oh so hot maid of honor dress but I realized there are SOO many replicas of both dresses and so many posts/articles sharing those so I am not going to. Also – I don’t want to look at wedding stuff because it will remind me I have no weddings to plan yet I will spend hours pretending I do.

Off to today’s post! Before Kate was seen wearing this LK Bennett dress or even buying it (I’m sure there were stories of her buying it) I saw it on Polyvore and loooved it and knew it would probably be in her wardrobe soon, if not already. Sure enough, she wore on a recent Diamond Jubilee Tour visit to Leicester with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. She paired the Davina dress with the LK Bennett jude jacket and black belt.

Now, like I said I looove this dress but as a poor college student who will be sucked into student debt in oh… three weeks, there is no way I could afford that dress. With these two “save” dresses, you can get the same look as Kate without digging into your savings (well… for me at least!) The Dorothy Perkins dress is much closer in color than the peplum dress but is a wee bit shorter and lacks the peplum detailing given to Kate’s look with her jacket. From the pictures, I like the color of the Peplum Dress better and the detailing on the side gives it a similar look to Kate’s without having to go for a matching jacket! And of course, I threw in some super hot Steve Madden black pumps to finish off the look (but really… who doesn’t need a pair of Steve Madden black pumps?) Which dress do you like better?

Save on Kate! {Olympic Visit}

Save on Kate - Olympic Visit

This is one of my favorite Kate outfit!! Gahh, looove!  She doesn’t wear TOO much bright color so when she I saw these jeans I gushhhed. I love the bright pop of color but how she keeps it conservative + ‘preppy’ with the blazer, shoes, and scarf. I didn’t throw the scarf in there but if you wanted to purchase the same one Kate is wearing, you can buy it here for £10 large or £5 for the small.

It’s a bit hard to see the exact color of Kate’s jeans but What Kate Wore identified the jeans as the Zara ones above, in red. Although the “save” colors may not be exact, they are similar and they work! What do you think?

Save on Kate! (Erdem Dress)

Kate Middleton/Duchess of Cambridge Erdem Dress

Kate Middleton/Duchess of Cambridge Erdem Dress by emilycourtright1

Okay, let me admit something… I have a huge style crush on Kate Middleton (Duchess of Cambridge). I also sometimes want to be her, no big deal. My mother and sister make fun of me for it ALL the time. Last summer we had close family friends down for a BBQ and my mom jokingly told one of them to ask me anything about the Royal Wedding and I would probably know the answer. She asked. I knew the answers. All of them. So weird. Nonetheless, I am all for copying her style or at least taking some pointers and adapting it to fit your style.

This first “Save on Kate” post (is that too weird of a name?) is one of my faveeee looks of hers, the Erdem Cecile lace dress. Doesn’t she look absolutely stunning? I’m not the only one who loves this stress, a poll conducted at WhatKateWore showed this dress as the favorite among readers. Do you have a favorite Kate dress?

I must say, out of those two dresses, I like the Dorothy Perkins black dress better. It’s closer to Kate’s dress style wise and a little more… classic. I know the color isn’t the same as Kate’s but I stuck with a neutral darker color with a beige underlay. Like I said, I wasn’t looking for exact replicas because 1) there weren’t any I could find that were under $100 and 2) from the ones I did find, these two were the most flattering shapes for many body types and personalities. Trust me, if you want a super tight and short dress that looks like this, there are PLENTY out there for you to choose from. So tell me, what do you think of these two dresses? Would you wear either?
